Investigation of FT Raman Spectra of Selectively Substituted Nitrates of Carbohydrates

For the first time FT Raman spectra have been obtained and investigated of selectively substituted nitrates of carbohydrates: β-methyl-4-0-methyl-D-glucopyranoside 3-nitrate (1); β-methyl-4-0-methyl-D-glucopyranoside 2,6-dinitrate (2); β-methyl-4-0-methyl-D-glucopyranoside 3,6-dinitrate (3); β-methyl-4-0-methyl-D-glucopyranoside 2,3,6-trinitrate (4); β-methyl-cellobioside 6,6-dinitrate (5); β-methylcellobioside heptanitrate (6). The relationship between the position of nitrate groups and their spectroscopic manifestation in the vibrational spectra has been established. Substantial distinctions have been revealed of the spectra in the low-frequency region of 85–110 cm-1, which may be attributed to the specific features of weak inductive type inter molecular interactions.
