Síntesis de un derivado diosfenólico a partir de la 7,9-dihidroxi-longipin-2-en-1-ona

The basic hydrolysis of a fraction obtained of general chromatography of the extract from Stevia lucida affords 7,9- dihydroxy-longipin-2-en-1-one (1). The oxidation of the compoud (1) with potassium permanganate affords a complex mixture of oxidation products. The diosphenol (2) was isolated from the reaction mixture by preparative thin layer chromatography. These compounds were characterized on the basis of spectroscopic studies, including 1D- and 2D-NMR experiments. A plausible reaction mechanism for the transformation of (1) to diosphenol (2) is discussed.
