Information Technology: A Competitive Tool for Managers

1986
This paper describes how information technology has clearly become a major tool of competitive strategy. This is true in most industries, and especially in transportation and logistics. In order to manage the development and implementation of information technology-based strategy is a different task. Managers need a conceptual framework to guide this process. This paper proposes such a framework, suggests several practical techniques for strategy development and implementation (based on the framework), and concludes with recommendations for management actions and for research.
