Ion gate an ion mobility spectrometer (IMS) with dual polarity, wherein said ion gate comprises: an ion source (0) a first gate electrode (1), which is arranged on one side of the ion source (0) a second gate electrode (2) disposed on the other side of the ion source (0) a third gate electrode (3) on the remote from the ion source (0) of said first gate electrode (1) is arranged, a fourth gate electrode (4) on the remote from the ion source (0) of said second gate electrode (2) is arranged, wherein correspond during the phase of ion storage, the potential of the ion gate in position on the tube axis corresponding to the first gate electrode (1) of the potentials in the positions on the tube axis of the ion source (0) and the third gate electrode (3) is different and the potential at the position on the tube axis of said second gate electrode (2), from the potentials in the positions on the tube axis, corresponding to the ion source (0) and the fourth gate electrode (4) is different, characterized, in that the ion gate further comprises a fifth gate electrode (5) on the remote from the ion source (0) of the third gate electrode (3) is arranged, and a sixth gate electrode (6), is arranged on the distant from the ion source (0) of the fourth gate electrode (4) comprises, wherein the fifth gate electrode (5) and the sixth gate electrode (6) act as initial parts of drift tubes for positive and negative ions.
