Assessment of Acetabular Cup Orientation in Computed Tomography — A New Concept of Measuring Angles after Total Hip Replacement

1991
Accurate assessment of acetabular component position of a total hip prosthesis is important for the determination of postoperative prognosis. Dislocation and subluxation, the most frequent early complications of total hip arthroplasty, have been well correlated to a badly placed acetabular cup. Moreover malposition of the socket may be a factor of importance with regard to mechanical loosening.
