Thermal Properties of TmGa3

Heat capacity and thermal expansion of TmGa3 single crystal are reported. At low temperatures in comparison to TN the heat capacity and thermal expansion coefficient have a T3 exp (– Δ/T) dependence with an energy gap Δ in the spin-wave spectrum equal to 1.15 K. In the paramagnetic state the crystal-field contribution to the thrmal properties of TmGa3 is analysed. Es wird uber Messungen der Warmekapazitat und des thermischen Ausdehungskoeffizienten an monokristallinem TmGa3 berichtet. Bei tiefen Temperaturen im Vergleich zu TN weisen die Warmekapazitat und der thermische Ausdehungskoeffizient eine T3 exp (– Δ/T)-Abhangigkeit auf mit einer Energielucke Δ im Spinwellenspektrum von 1,15 K. Im paramagnetischen Zustand wird der Einflus der Kristallfeldaufspaltung auf die thermischen Eigenschaften des TmGa3 analysiert.
