The present invention relates to a "bio-acrylic" acid polymer grade, that grade being defined by a minimum of 14C content and the limit thresholds content of harmful impurities to the polymerization processes, especially the total aldehydes, protoanemonin, the maleic anhydride and the non-phenolic polymerization inhibitors. Another object of the invention is a method for producing this acid from glycerol as a raw material. The invention also relates to the use of this acid in the manufacture of super absorbents or for the manufacture of polymers or copolymers by polymerization of derivative of said acid as ester or amide.
