Reaktionskinetik des biochemischen Sauerstoffbedarfs (BSB): Neue Gesichtspunkte in der Auswertung von BSB-Zeitkurven

A new equation for the theoretical oxygen demand is presented, which allows the direct estimation of bacterial growth from BOD time curves. It is shown experimentally that the exponential growth rate of bacteria during biological degradation of complex nutrients is linear and does not follow the Monod kinetics. Toxicity and yield factors can directly be quantified from simple BOD tests.
