Growth Kinetics and Photosynthetic O2-Evolution by Chlorella Immobilized in Ca-Alginate

1987
Recently, immobilization methods were described to stabilize photosynthetic activities (1, 2) and currently immobilization of algal cells is already in practice (7). The physiological behaviour of immobilized cells is of great interest, but internal parameters are always difficult to measure. Changes in observed activity due to immobilization have been studied on many occasions (4, 5). In the present paper we have investigated the ability of algae immobilized in Ca-alginate gel to produce oxygen by photosynthesis.
