Neural Oscillators and Dynamical Systems Models

2009
This article shows how methods from the qualitative theory of differential equations (dynamical systems) can be used to understand transitions in the firing patterns of neurons and circuits. Examples from simple membrane models and from synaptically coupled rhythms are included. Concepts such as stability, limit cycles, phase planes, equilibria, and bifurcation are introduced.
