Effect of tool pin geometry on FSW dissimilar aluminum alloys - (AA5083 & AA6061)

2020
Abstract The main aim of present investigation is assessment of process parameters on microstructure properties and mechanical properties of stir welded (FSW) different Aluminum alloys due to their choice of procedure in wide range of application. Dissimilar FS Wed joints were fabricated by changing the tool rotational speeds, welding speed by using Taper threaded profile, cylindrical with taper and square profile. The parameter and tool contour play important role in weld excellence. During FSW process Al 5083 is located in advance side and Al 6061on the reverse side. The experimental results are shown that the good joints are obtain by changing the process parameters. From the outcome, it is concluded that best mechanical properties are possible at 900 rpm rotation rate, and welding speed of 40 mm/min due to refinement of microstructure. The outcomes were linked with the microstructure and fracture features..
