Antiemetic effect of citrus ginger soup on cisplatin-induced vomiting in minks

2012
Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of citrus ginger soup on cisplatin-induced vomiting in minks. Methods: Male minks were divided into 5 groups: the blank control, model control, ondansetron, low dose citrus ginger soup and high dose citrus ginger soup groups. The minks in every group were administrated saline, saline, ondansetron, low dose citrus ginger soup and high dose citrus ginger soup respectively for 2 days.In addition to the normal control group, cisplatin was injected to each group in the second day about 30 minutes later after the administration. The latency and the times of retching and vomiting episodes were recorded in the following 6 hours. Results: Compared to the model control group, the latency of low dose and high dose citrus ginger soup groups were longer significantly(P0.05,P0.01),the times of retching and vomiting episodes decreased significantly(all P0.01).Conclusion: The citrus ginger soup shows an antiemetic effect on cisplatin-induced vomiting in minks.
