The thesis covers five chapters, at the beginning of the first chapter summerizes a history of American, then narrates the song cycle《Honey and Rue》motives and documents. The second chapter discusses the source of production, introduces the historical background of Jazz and its music features. The third chapter mainly introduces composer and poet , Andre Previn’s life and Toni Morrison’s life and her work style. In the fourth chapter studies the analysis and interpretation of 《Honey and Rue》. The last chapter describes views of the author, and sorted out five points on Andre Previn’s characteristic work.
