AIDS epidemic situation among hospital patients.

OBJECTIVE To understand the prevalence of HIV among hospital patients.METHODS A retrospective analysis on the 90289 clinical HIV test data during from 1999 to 2008 in our General Hospital was used.The reasons and distribution patterns of outpatients was analyzed based on HIV positive/samples.RESULTS The HIV positive rate among our patients was 0.039%,mainly among young and middle-aged males for preoperative examination and voluntary counseling and via sex dissemination(89.5% vs 10.5%)of blood dissemination.CONCLUSIONS The sexual transmission is the main pathwoy for HIV infection.
