Observasion of middle ear by endotoscope

OBJECTIVE To observe the anotomy of the middle ear under endotoscope and analyze its advantage for clinical application. METHODS Twenty cadaver heads were harvested from ten cadavers. The structures of the middle ear were explored and compared under endotoscope and microscope respectively. RESULTS Some structures of the middle ear such as attic, sinus tympani, facial recess, Eustachian tube which are difficult to expose under microscope can be explored fully under endotoscope with minimal trauma . CONCLUSION As the useful supplement to microscope, endotoscope will improve the otosurgery to a higher level.
