O artigo tem o proposito de analisar a memoria e as representacoes sociais que constituem a formacao do professor por meio das narrativas dos licenciados pelo Curso de Geografia da Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia (UESB). Nessa perspectiva, buscou-se compreender o significado dessa formacao a luz das categorias memoria e representacoes sociais. No que se refere aos aspectos metodologicos foram realizados estudos teoricos das categorias apresentadas e entrevistas semiestruturadas com os egressos do referido curso. A pesquisa evidenciou a multiplicidade de sentidos, representacoes e significados que eles constroem em relacao ao processo de formacao e identidade docente. Assim, foi possivel constatar que a configuracao dessa identidade vai alem da formacao academica e didatica recebida na Universidade, pois se inicia, muitas vezes, antes do ingresso na licenciatura, se consolida nas praticas cotidianas e se aprimora no chao da escola, num constante fazer-se docente. ABSTRACT The aim of this article is to analyze the memory and the social representations that constitute the teacher's formation through the narratives of the graduates by the Geography Course at Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia (UESB). From this perspective, the purpose was to understand the meaning of this formation for graduates in the light of memory categories and social representations. In respect, the methodological aspects were realized theoretical studies of the categories presented and semi-structured interviews with the enrolled of the referred course. This research evidenced the multiplicity of sense, representations and significations that the students construct in relation to the process of formation and teacher identity. In this sense, it was possible to verify that the configuration of this identity goes beyond the academic and didactic formation received at the University, because begins, so many times, before enrol in the graduation, consolidates in daily practices and improves at university, in a constant process to become a professor.
