The electrical model and parameter design of hybrid railway unified power quality controller (RUPQC)

2010
Negative-sequence and harmonic pollution threats the safe operation of the traction supply system and the utility grid. To overcome the shortage of railway static power conditioner (RPC) for canceling negative-sequence and harmonic current, a novel hybrid railway unified power quality compensator (RUPQC) is proposed to reduce the rating of voltage source inverter (VSI) in the compensator in this paper. The RUPQC is consisted of RPC, thyristor controlled reactor (TCR) and thyristor controlled high-pass filter (TCHF), which are connected to the traction sections in parallel. The general principle of RUPQC is analyzed in this paper, and the electric model of the RUPQC is established. Furthermore, the parameter selection method of RUPQC is discussed. Simulation and experimental results verified the validity of proposed compensator.
