Organization and logistics in organ exchange

1997
Organ transplantation is considered as the logical treatment for patients with end stage organ failure. Organs for transplantation may be obtained either from living or post-mortem donors. The organization of these two types of donation is quite different, mainly due to the fact that living donation is restricted to the narrow circle of recipient, donor and physician, in contrast to post-mortem organ donation which has rapidly evolved to a much broader environment with intense international cooperation.
