In the present work the reaction of 1,2,4-triazole-3-thione and its derivatives (IIa-c) with epoxypropane I has been studied. In the presence of organic bases the process occurs with opening of the epoxide ring to give 3-(l-chloro-2-hydroxypropylthio)-5-R-l,2,4-triazoles
