Trials on killing beetles of Monochamus alternatus and controlling pine wilt disease with Manic-EC and mixtures of Beauveria bassiana×Verticillium lecanii

2005
Experiments indicated that 1.2% Manic-EC preparation, which is a kind of plant pesticide made of matrine and nicotine could intensely kill the beetles (Monochamus alternatus Hope) carrying pine wood nematodes (Bursaphelenchus xylophilus). The death rate to beetles was 100% when the preparation was diluted to 400 times after sprayed in 24 h.B V (Beauveria bassiana×Verticillium lecanii) mixtures also could kill beetles and death rate to beetles was about 42.9%,showing mixtures had a good effect to pine wilt disease. The wilting rates of pine trees in the forest had declined year by year from 2001 to 2003 after releasing B V mixture. The decline rate in 2001 was 61.86%,35.25% in 2002 and 54.8% in 2003,but the decline rate of the contrast in the forest is about null.Combining Manic-EC with B V may be a good kind of production worth to be developed and safe to the environment.
