Research progress in the crucial techniques of fuel ethanol production from stalks

In recent years,the way of using stalks to produce ethanol has attracted more and more attention.However,it is extremely difficult to produce ethanol directly from stalks as their components are very complex.Different pretreatment methods for stalk materials are introduced and compared given their components.Meanwhile,some typical cellulases are systematically summarized in terms of their characteristics and progress in hydrolysis and ethanol fermentation.The crucial techniques of ethanol production from stalks as well as the future research development trend are prospected.
