Analysis of knee arthrotomies performed during 14 years of department activity

General analysis of 1075 knee arthrotomies in 1037 patients has been carried out. Young, physically active males prevailed 39 per cent of these procedures). In 20 per cent of the cases the injury to the structure other then the meniscus was responsible for the knee malfunction. A major damage to the articular surface has been found in 24 per cent of the cases. In 18 per cent it was associated with meniscal injury, in 6 per cent with the hypertrophied fad pad.
