STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF EXTREME ROLL MOTION

1988
Statistical methods for predicting large roll motions are investigated. Characteristics of extreme motions are studied to assess their importance for the occurrence of critical roll angles. Existing methods for predicting statistics of nonlinear roll motion are reviewed, and a new approach for the prediction of large roll motions in following seas is proposed.
