Six sigma versus lean manufacturing – An overview

Abstract This study investigates recent research outputs in six sigma and lean production as management techniques in manufacturing systems. To achieve this, this work consists of a detailed explanation of six sigma and lean production methodologies, where they are used in manufacturing, how they work, their benefits and the advancements that have been made thus far. In addition, the different types of lean six sigma were explained with brief examples to help one have a better and deep understanding of the concept.
