Opale, a balloon gamma-ray telescope for the 100 keV-5 MeV energy range

Abstract A fully steerable gamma-ray telescope for celestial sources in the energy range 0.1–5 MeV was constructed in 1973. The results of laboratory tests are given, as well as the results from several balloon flights.
