The use of nanotechnology for fibre-reinforced polymer composites

2017
The fiber-reinforced composites receive great importance due to their potential uses in many fields. In the last two decades with enormous developments in nanotechnology, the use of nanomodified matrix and nano-enhanced fiber-reinforced composites has gained an important attention. This chapter is devoted to the nanotechnologies for fabricating fibre-reinforced composite materials. The chapter will address the recent advancements in the fabrication of nano-enhanced fibre-reinforced composite materials. This chapter will highlight the use of nanotechnology such as graphene, carbon nanotube, POSS, and other nanostructures to increase the interlaminar shear strength, tensile strength, impact strength, and other physical and chemical performance properties of the fiber-reinforced composites.
