Viability of the ampullaria snail in China

2003
The experimental results showed that the viable temperature and fatal temperature of ampullaria snail (Ampullarium crosseana Hidalgo/Pomacea canaliculata Lamarck) were 8 - 38 ℃ ,lower than 0℃ and higher than 40 C respectively. The experiments under natural feeding condition, fitting to Effective Accumulated Temperature (EAT) equation by nonlinear Niuto-Marquardt showed that the developmental zero and EAT of shell were 11. 4199 ℃ and 1309. 2250 day-degree respectively. Incubating test under condition of constant temperature showed the developmental zero and EAT of its egg were 14. 0321℃ and 94. 8752 day-degree respectively, and those of its whole generation were 11. 6731℃ and 1404.1002 day-degree respectively. Using 30-year climate data of 670 meteoroligical stations all over the country, the potential risk regions and generations a year of ampullaria snail in China were estimated. These results were useful and helpful in making quarantine policy.
