Cultivation of Pleurotus ostreatus (P-19) using different cellulosic and lignocellulosic substrates

2010
Different cellulosic and lignocellulosic substrates (rice husk, sawdust and wheat straw) were investigated for effective cultivation of Oyster mushroom. Sawdust took very few days (5.75) for completion of spawn running while rice husk took maximum days(23.75). Similarly maximum yield was obtained on sawdust and wheat straw where as, rice husk produced lowest yield having low contents of celluloses. The Sawdust an lignocellulosic substrate proved one of the best substrate. No of pin head and no of fruiting bodies formation were also effective when cultivated on saw dust 100%) as compared to the other substrates. It was also observed that the Pleurotus ostreatus (P-19) gave the maximum yield in the first flush followed by second, third and forth flush, respectively.
