Holographic optical element and method for manufacturing the same

An optical element for a computer generated hologram comprises a plurality of three dimensional cells E. Each cell has a diffraction grating G. The diffraction grating defines a specific phase of light and the area of an effective region E of each cell defines a specific amplitude of light. Light passing through each cell is modulated according to these specific values.
