Interferons in haemato-oncology

Abstract This article describes the biological properties of the interferons at molecular and cell biological levels. The clinical use of interferon-α (IFNα) is then discussed in relation to oncology, especially haemic malignancy where it has achieved its main success. The use of IFNα in viral disorders is also reviewed, with particular emphasis on recent data relating to chronic hepatitis.
