3,5-Di-tert-butylstyrole : Synthese sterisch anspruchsvoller Polymerbausteine

We report the synthesis of 3,5-di-tert-butylstyrene (5). The alkylation of toluene with tert-butylchloride establishes the 1,3,5-substitution pattern. A Wittig reaction introduces the C 1 unit. This and similar bulky styrene derivatives will be used as special building blocks for polymer design
