Study of plasma D-dimer levels in patients with different degrees and types of schistosomiasis japonica

2011
Objective To detect plasma D-dimer levels in patients with different degrees and types of schistosomiasis japonica and the clinical significance of those levels. Methods Plasma D-dimer levels were detected by immunoturbidimetry(ITM) in 40 patients with chronic schistosomiasis japonica,37 patients with advanced megalosplenia,38 patients with advanced ascites, and 47 healthy individuals.A t-test,Spearman correlation analysis, and linear regression were performed to analyze data. Results Plasma D-dimer levels were positively correlated with the degree of disease,as indicated by an r of 0.567(P0.05).There was no significant difference in the square root of plasma D-dimer levels for patients with advanced megalosplenia and advanced ascites.Linear regression analysis indicated that gender and age had little effect on plasma D-dimer levels, and the degree of disease was positively correlated with plasma D-dimer levels.A worse condition was associated with higher plasma D-dimer levels. Conclusion Plasma D-dimer levels can serve as an important indicator of the degree of schistosomiasis japonica.
