Synthesis and spectroscopic characterisation of new types of mixed ligand homo-and heterobimetallic derivatives of butyltin(IV)

Interaction in equimolar ratio of BuSn(OPr i ) 3 with an appropriate Schiff base (L 1 H 2 or L 2 H 2 ) , where L 1 = OC 10 H 6 CH=NCH 2 CH 2 O and L 2 = CH 3 C(0)CHC(=NCH 2 CH 2 O)CH 3 ) yields compounds (1) or (2) respectively, which on reaction with glycols in equimolar ratios afford mixed-ligand derivatives BuSn(L)(OGOH) [where L = L 1 , G = CHCH 3 CHCH 3 (G 1 ) (3); L = L 1 , G = C(CH 3 ) 2 C(CH 3 ) 2 (G 2 ) (4) and L = L 2 , G = G 1 (5)], Equimolar reactions of (3)-(5) with Al(OPr ι ) 3 afford heterobimetallic derivatives of the type BuSn(L)(OGOAl(OPr i ) 2 ) (where L = L 1 , G = G 1 (6); L = L 1 , G = G 2 (7); and L = L 2 , G = G 1 (8)). All these derivatives (1)-(8) have been characterised by elemental analyses, molecular weight measurements and spectroscopic [IR, and NMR ( 1 H, 119 Sn, and 27 Al)] studies.
