Procedures to verify the data integrity of software in ECUs

2003
A review of the data integrity of software for a download process for transmission errors and authenticity that flashed data must be checked several times. The access or the access time to program data that is stored in flash memory, is time consuming. Particularly for control units in vehicles that have cost reasons usually have low computing power, a long access time results in complicated calculations as too long an authenticity check, and intolerable delays. According to the invention the verification of program data for transmission errors and authenticity can be made more efficient if the calculation method for checking for transmission errors and for verifying authenticity are performed as long as the flashware located in a buffer memory with a fast access time. Time-consuming accesses to the flash memory can be avoided. Previously had to be accessed for each review of flashware to the flash memory, it must according to the inventive process is only accessed to the flash memory to cache the flashware for all necessary checks in a buffer memory with fast access time.
