Measurement of Digital Index and Fingermail Skin-Fold Angle Using Fingernail Morpometric Device in Healthy Subjects: A Study of The Length of Time To Do. The Measurement.

2008
The early stage of finger clubing is often overlooked because of its ambiguity as “hard” sign on clinical examination. A technique to diagnose clubing wih confidence will be valuble for clinicians. To determine the length of time needed to work out Digital Index and fingermail skin-fold angle using the new device, Fingernail Morphometric Diagnostik Kit. To propose the new device as a clinical diagnostic tool for digital clubbing. An investigation was conducted on healthy subjects. Forty four medical students of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak The length of time to find Digital Index: 35.97 minutes (Range: 21.93 to 68.80 minutes). The length of time to find fingernail skin-fold angles: 7.76 minutes (Range: 21.93 to 68,80 minutes). The length of time to find fingernail skin-fold angles: 7.76 minutes (Range: 4.86 to 16.o5 minutes). The length of time inovolving subject participant: 24.40 minutes (Range: 14.08 to 40.70 minutes). Inter-rater vatiation of Digital Index and intra-rater variation of hyponychial and profile angle were small, with a Pearson’s correlation coefficient of R = 0.966; R=0.979 and R = 954, respectively.
