Sobre el aprendizaje de los trabajadores informáticos: los roles de la educación formal, no formal e informal en la adquisición de "técnicas"

Contrary to what happens in other areas with higher levels of innovation, software developers do not necessarily possess academic credentials. Although this varies according to the type of productive process, our field work  revealed that high levels of remuneration, creativity, hierarchy, or product complexity usually match employees who do not have university degrees. This article seeks to describe the relation between information technology specialists and the world of academic degrees and, on the other hand, to shed some light on the origins of the techniques that these specialists actually use. Some of them suggest a thwarted course through the university world; others suggest special courses, while most of them point out to learning by doing and self-teaching during free time. By means of our empirical material we pretend to define the patterns of these formal and informal ways of cultivating subjective abilities of information technology personnel, while at the same time situating this phenomenon in the wider field of the transformations that capitalist economies are undergoing.
