Desarrollo de Recubrimientos Resistentes a la Corrosión, de Alta Dureza y Durabilidad Aplicables sobre Maquinarias y Herramientas

2014
Our aim in this work was to obtain a coating of silicon carbide (SiC), high hardness, using the technique of plasma PECVD (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition). This process improves the surface properties of the cutting tools, which gives specific features according to their job needs. The surface coating includes physicochemical processes that modify the surface properties on the order of microns, those properties of hardness, abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance, without without the material having those properties, with consequent cost savings, and increased ease of machining, in particular in parts of mass construction, on a basis of a low-cost material and easily workable. We assessed the quality of the coating obtained by characterizing the mechanical properties (hardness and adhesion) and chemical ones (corrosion resistance).
