Concentration gradient near the surface of a polymer solution observed by neutron reflection

Abstract A concentration gradient exists near a polymer solution surface due to differing surface tensions for solute and solvent. It is possible to reveal this gradient by neutron reflection. Changing the isotopic compositions of the solute and solvent, we have observed remarkable effects.
