To evaluate the efficacy and attenuation of disodium cantharidinate injection in combination with DCF regimen chemotherapy in the treatment of patients with advanced gastric carcinoma

2013
Objective To observe and compare the efficacies and toxicities of disodium cantharidinate injection combined with DCF regimen(docetaxe l+ cisplatin+fluorouracil) and DCF regimen alone in the treatment of patients with advanced gastric carcinoma. Methods Forty-eight patients with advanced gastric carcinoma, diagnosed by histopathology and imaging, were divided into 2 groups. They were treated with DCF regimen alone(control group,n=24) or combination with disodium cantharidinate injection(combination treatment group,n=24).Each patients received at least 2 cycles of the treatments. Results 24 cases could be evaluated in coalition group and 24 cases could be evaluated in control group. In combination treatment group, the overall response rate was 45.8%(PR in 11 patients,SD in 9 patients). In control group, the overall response rate was 41.70%(PR in 10 patients,SD in 8 patients). The difference of the overall response rates between the two groups was insignificant(P0.05).The increase rate of Karnofsky score for the quality of life(75.00%) in combination treatment group was significantly higher than that(45.83%) in control group(P0.05).The incidence rates of leucopenia and gastrointestinal reactions in combination treatment group were(66.67%) and(70.83%),these incidence rates were significantly lower than those in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Disodium cantharidinate injection can attenuate toxic effects of DCF chemotherapy. And it can enhance patients' tolerance to chemotherapy and improve the quality of patients' life.
