An Un usual Cu ta ne ous Me tas ta sis from Hepatocellular Car ci noma

Cu ta ne ous metastases from hepatocellular car ci noma are rare. In this re port we de tail a case of hepatocellular car ci noma with the un usual man i fes ta tions of mul ti ple skin metastases. A 49-year-old male, who had re ceived sur gi cal re sec tion of hepatocellular car ci noma one year prior, pre sented with mul ti ple red dish-blue, firm, pain less and non - ulcerative cu ta ne ous papules and nod ules over the fin gers, palms, toes, soles and back. Pa thol ogy of the cu ta ne ous nod ules showed char ac ter - is tic hepatocellular car ci noma with trabecular gland for ma tion. These le sions grew very rap idly and de vel oped to cau li flower ap pear ances which had not been de scribed pre vi ously in the lit er a ture. The pa tient died of re spi ra tory fail ure sec ond ary to lung me tas ta sis two months af - ter the first ap pear ance of the skin le sions. (Chin Med J (Tai pei) 2001;64:253-257)
