Chromosome Number Observation and Karyotype Analysis of Semen astragali Complanati

[Objective] The research aimed to analyze and study the chromosome number and karyotpye of Semen astragali Complanati.[Method] The young roots were treated with 0.002 mol/L 8-hydroxyquinoline for 3 h and immobilized with Carnoy's fixative for 30 min.And hydrolysis with 1 mol/L HCl for 5 min and dyed with carbol fuchsin for 5 min to make the plate for observation.[Result] The chromosome of S.astragali was diploid.The chromosome number was 16 and the karyotype formula was 2n =2x =16=10m(2SAT)+4sm+2st.The 8th chromosome of S.astragali had satellites and the karyotype multiple was "2B" type.
