Molecular characteristics of cis-1,4-polyisoprene upon the formation of the titanium tetrachloride-triisobutylaluminum catalyst system in turbulent flow

2004
A method for modifying the microheterogeneous TiCl 4 -Al(i-C 4 H 9 ) 3 catalyst system was developed, which is based on the hydrodynamic action on the catalyst particle size distribution and, as a consequence, on the molecular characteristics of cis-1,4-polyisoprene. The formation of propagation sites for macromolecules in a tubular prereactor operating in the turbulent-flow mode makes it possible to vary the isoprene polymerization rate over a wide range and leads to an increase in the average molecular masses of cis-1,4-poly-isoprene and a decrease in the amount of the insoluble fraction of the polymer.
