AVALIAÇÃO DIETÉTICA E QUALIDADE DE VIDA EM PACIENTES ONCOLÓGICOS AMBULATORIAIS EM QUIMIOTERAPIA / DIETARY EVALUATION AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN AMBULATORY ONCOLOGICAL PATIENTS IN CHEMOTHERAPY

Introducao: O câncer ocasiona diversas mudancas psiquicas e sociais, que de maneira rapida induzem a alteracoes metabolicas, gerando grande impacto na qualidade de vida dos individuos portadores dessa enfermidade. Objetivo: Relacionar a avaliacao dietetica e qualidade de vida em pacientes oncologicos ambulatoriais em tratamento quimioterapico. Metodos: Estudo transversal e analitico, realizado em um Centro de Referencia de Tratamento e Diagnostico de Câncer. A amostra foi de 75 pacientes oncologicos (ambos os sexos), em tratamento quimioterapico. Foram aplicados tres questionarios distintos: sociodemografico; questionario de frequencia de consumo alimentar Quantitativo e o questionario European for Research and Tratament ® of Cancer Quality of life - EORTC QLQ C30 (versao 3.0). Para a analise de dados utilizou-se o programa estatistico Stata (versao 12) e adotou-se o nivel de significância alfa < 0,05. Resultados: A maioria era casado (52%) e do sexo feminino (66,7%), com media de idade de 42 anos e renda de 1 a 2 salarios minimos (69,3%). Em relacao ao etilismo, 98,7% negaram tal pratica. Nao houveram correlacoes estatisticamente significativas entre o consumo alimentar e qualidade de vida, contudo a ingestao de carboidratos associou-se positivamente a Escala de Saude Global (p=0,011), Escala de Sintomas (p=0,025) e Escala Funcional (p=0,016). Ja a Escala Funcional apresentou associacao estatisticamente significante com o consumo de vitamina C (p=0,016). Conclusao: O consumo de carboidratos, gorduras e vitamina C apresentou relacao positiva com indicadores da escala de qualidade de vida em pacientes oncologicos e reforca a importância da adequada e completa assistencia nutricional para pacientes oncologicos submetidos ao tratamento quimioterapico. Objective: of this study was to relate dietary assessment and quality of life in outpatient cancer patients in chemotherapy treatment. Methods: Cross-sectional and analytical study, from March to April 2014, at the Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis Reference Center. The sample consisted of 75 cancer patients, both sexes, undergoing chemotherapy treatment, regardless of tumor location, cycle and type of drugs used or stage of the disease, associated or not with chronic pathologies. Three distinct questionnaires were applied: sociodemographic; Quantitative food consumption frequency questionnaire and the European Quality of Life Research and Treatment for Cancer questionnaire - EORTC QLQ C30 (version 3.0). For data analysis, the statistical program Stata® (version 12) was used and the significance level alpha <0.05 was adopted. Results: The participants were mostly married (52%) and female (66.7%), with a mean age of 42 years and income of 1 to 2 minimum wages (69.3%). Regarding alcoholism, 98.7%, denied such practice. Carbohydrate intake was related to the Global Health Scale (p = 0.011), Symptom Scale (p = 0.025) and Functional Scale (p = 0.016). The Functional Scale showed a statistically significant relationship with vitamin C intake (p = 0.016). Conclusion: The consumption of carbohydrates, fats and vitamin C showed a positive relationship with indicators of the quality of life scale in cancer patients and reinforces the importance of adequate and complete nutritional assistance for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
