Spin wave stiffness parameters in lithium-zinc ferrites

Abstract The spin wave exchange stiffness has been calculated for a series of zinc substituted lithium ferrites and compared with measured values obtained by Brillouin light scattering. The theory yields values of 2.9×10 −9 to 0.9×10 −9 Oe-cm 2 , relative to the observed values of 11.6×10 −9 to 0 Oe-cm 2 , for 0 to 0.4 Zn at./ formula unit, respectively.
