Retours d'expérience sur l'efficacité des suivis de mobilité de la charge grossière par RFID

While different techniques for tracking bedload transport exist (paint marking, metallurgic slags), the most commonly deployed technique in the field these last twenty years has remained passive RFID transponders. More recently, the use of active Ultra High Frequency RFID transponders has been tested. Until now, this technique has only been used in two sites but early feedback is already showing its relevance in terms of return rates. Our talk will present results from one of these sites (the Buech River in the Alps mountains, at the Saint Sauveur dam), to question the effectiveness of monitoring gross load by RFID transponders. Today there are few synthesis of these field measurements that allow us to cross-check the monitoring. From this analysis we will suggest technical specifications for designing RFID surveys as well as evaluation indicators.
