Novel random access tunable heterodyne receiver using beat counting method for multichannel coherent systems

A beat counting method, which can allow a theoretically infinite transmitter frequency drift in the principle of the channel selection process, has been proposed for the implementation of a multichannel random access tunable heterodyne receiver. A channel switching time of less than 15 ms for 150 GHz tuning range was obtained.
