Ferromagnetic and ferroelectric properties of nonequilibrium electron gas
1999
Abstract It is shown that under the action of a high applied electric field ( E x ) the quasi-two-dimensional electron gas can exhibit ferromagnetic and ferroelectric properties. A nonequilibrium phase transition is predicted which manifests itself in the spontaneous appearance of a transverse electric field ( E y ) and a longitudinal magnetic field ( H x ). The “Curie temperature” is defined by the value of /vb E x /vb.
