The invention provides an axial magnetic field permanent magnet generator for a light-duty vehicle, and belongs to the technical field of automobile motor appliances. The axial magnetic field permanent magnet generator consists of permanent magnets, generating systems, a rotor, a front end cover and a back end cover, wherein the permanent magnets and the generating systems are equal in quantity; one group of permanent magnets and generating systems is fixed on the same circumference in the inner cavity of the back end cover, and the another group is fixed on the same circumference in the inner cavity of the front end cover; the rotor has a ring flange structure. The excitation generator is free from an electrically-excited winding and a permanent magnet, so that the structure is simple, the rotational inertia is low; an excitation magnetic field is provided by the permanent magnets, and the electrically-excited winding is eliminated, so that the electric energy consumption is low; no carbon brush slip ring structure is adopted, so that the fault rate is low.
