Fissility of nuclei and damping of the contribution of rotational modes to the level density

1988
A number of the observed characteristics of the fission probability have been analyzed. This has permitted information to be obtained on the damping of the contribution of rotational modes to the level density with increase of excitation energy. Both for axially asymmetric and axially symmetric nuclei this information is in reasonable agreement with the theoretical description of Hansen and Jensen (G. Hansen and A. S. Jensen, Nuclear Physics A406, 236 (1983)).
