Dielcometry of the vitreous (B{sub 2}O{sub 3}){sub 1-x}(Sb{sub 2}O{sub 3}){sub x} system

1993
Even today, the chemical structure of glasses in the (B{sub 2}O{sub 3}){sub 1-x}(Sb{sub 2}O{sub 3}){sub x} system remains all but uninvestigated. In addition, there is no research information on its phase diagram .From an analysis of how the thermal expansion and softening point of the glasses vary with concentration, Imaoka hypothesized that the system should contain a compound whose composition is 4B{sub 2}O{sub 3} {center_dot} Sb{sub 2}O{sub 3}. A similar conclusion was drawn by Golubkov and Pivovarov from a SAXS study of antimony borate glasses. This communication reports the results of a study on (B{sub 2}O{sub 3}){sub 1-x}(Sb{sub 2}O{sub 3}){sub x} glasses by resonance IR dielcometry, which we used earlier in an investigation of the (TeO{sub 2}){sub 1-x}(P{sub 2}O{sub 5}){sub x} oxide system.
